Briefs: Prenatal care summit
The Kane County Health Department will host a free prenatal care summit from 8 to 11:30 a.m. Thursday in the Fox Valley University Business Center at Elgin Community College, 1700 Spartan Drive, Elgin. The summit is open to all providers and members of the Kane County prenatal care system: doctors, midwives, nurse practitioners, nurses, hospital staff, social workers, case managers, home visitors, early intervention staff, maternal child educators, lactation consultants and support group providers. Exercise program planned
Thursday is the deadline is register for next year's weight loss and exercise adherence class at the Norris Recreation Center, 1050 Dunham Road, in St. Charles. The program starts Sunday and is open to center members and visitors. Four contest winners who lose the most weight or work out the most over six weeks will win a three-month membership to the center. The program is free for existing members and $40 for visitors. Kids dance clinic
The Geneva High School varsity dance team will conduct a dance clinic for first- through fifth-graders from 1 to 3:30 p.m. Friday at the high school. The cost is $30 for preregistration and $35 at the door. This includes a practice session, a T-shirt, pompons and a snack. St. Charles chamber meets

ECC sets founders' brunch
Elgin Community College and the ECC Foundation invite area residents to Brunching with the Stars … Celebrating the Stars of ECC, the college's 10th annual founders' brunch, Sunday in the Visual and Performing Arts Center on the main campus, 1700 Spartan Drive. The event, which commemorates the 59th anniversary of the founding of the college, begins with a champagne reception at 11:30 a.m. An gourmet brunch will be served from noon to 2:30 p.m. Funds raised provide financial support to the students and instructional programs of ECC.
