Hear lay apostle Anne
The lay apostle Anne of Ireland will speak at 7 p.m. Thursday at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 2300 Main St., Batavia. The evening of Eucharistic renewal begins with the rosary at 6:30 p.m. Anne will discuss revelations of Christ regarding his plans for a worldwide renewal, and she will explain the mission of the lay apostolate "Direction for our Times." Clerk holiday closings
The Kane County Clerk's Division of Vital Records and Tax Extension will be closed Thursday for Abraham Lincoln's birthday and Feb. 16, for President's Day.
Flood insurance available
Campton Hills residents can now purchase insurance through the National Flood Insurance Program, village officials announced. Coverage is available up to $250,000 for a residential building and $100,000 for its contents. Commercial properties are limited to $500,000 in coverage. Borrowers' properties must be in a designated flood hazard area; there is a 30-day waiting period before coverage takes effect. Call (630) 584-5700.
Boles to seek re-election
Kane County Judge Susan Clancy Boles this week announced plans to seek re-election in the 16th Judicial Circuit's 4th subcircuit on Feb. 2, 2010. Boles graduated from St. Charles High School in 1983 and was a practicing trial lawyer in the Tri-Cities for 17 years before she was named associate judge in 2007. She currently presides over abuse, neglect, mental health and adoption cases. The 4th subcircuit includes Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles and southern South Elgin. Heart volunteers wanted
Indian Prairie District 204 seeks volunteers to participate in the upcoming Young Hearts for Life Cardiac Screening program. Volunteers must commit to at least four hours of service and attend a 90-minute training session. Training for Waubonsie Valley High School volunteers is scheduled at 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. March 17, 5 and 7 p.m. March 18 and April 8. Training for Neuqua Valley volunteers will be 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. April 14, 5 and 7 p.m. April 15 and 30. Screenings will take place March 19, 20 and April 9 for Waubonsie, and April 16, 17 and May 1 for Neuqua Valley.
