The new fiction ‘Into The Mystic Trilogy’ brings a unique twist to the romantic and dystopian genre
Mount Prospect native, Amal (Parhad) Guevin, artist, poet, ballet dancer, physiotherapist, and 1970 Miss Mount Prospect, has recently released her debut fiction Into The Mystic Trilogy. The author brings a unique blend of genres to her series, including romance, action & adventure, and a world-shattering apocalyptic disaster that appeals to the reader’s imagination, intellect, and soul. The books touch on concepts such as destiny, spirituality, hope, and the power of love as the main characters struggle to survive and cope with the dangers and acts of violence that take place in the aftermath of the cataclysm.
Into The Mystic is set in Boston and the Bahamas, where the author spends most of her time after retiring early with her husband. The story also includes several impactful situations personally experienced by Amal and her husband, which were dramatized for the book. The book’s cover art was a painting done by Guevin’s mother, Patricia Parhad, after a trip to the Bahamas, as well as the cover for the second book, Inherit The Earth.
The 3-book saga follows the lives of three young men from Boston, best friends since childhood, that survived a planet-wide catastrophic event that sent the world into chaos. In Book One, Into The Mystic, the destiny of one of the friends, Daniel Devereaux, and his new bride, Chicago orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Alea Gabrielle, carried them from the ports of Boston to the warm, turquoise waters of the Bahamas, where the disaster suddenly occurs during their honeymoon on their private cruiser, Into The Mystic. A mysterious white osprey guides them to a deserted Bahamian island, and as they struggle to survive, they discover the true strength of their love and faith. But once they are finally reconnected with the devastated outside world, they become determined to rebuild it into something better than mankind had ever known before.
The author’s writing style brings the characters to life and captures the reader’s attention, making them feel as if they are part of the story. Guevin’s books have received a 5-star rating from Readers Favorite, as well as numerous positive reviews.
