Youth welcome to audition for Fox Valley arts academy shows
The Noble Fool Theatricals Performing Arts Academy soon-to-be Fox Valley Rep Performing Arts Academy in January is eager to have local youth audition for a variety of performance opportunities, including “Seussical Jr. Youth Ensemble” musical, a children's “Snow White” production, and the teen play comedy, “The Talent Show.”
All auditions are for programs offered in 2011 under Noble Fool's new academy name, FVR Performing Arts Academy, at Pheasant Run Resort, 4051 E. Main St., St. Charles.
“We are excited to begin our new journey as the FVR Performing Arts Academy with these three great audition-only programs,” said Education Manager Tracy Whiteside. “For ages 6 to 19, we have the ability to offer these advanced educational programs that are designed for the best and the brightest young talent in the area. All of these productions are in addition to the winter classes we offer, which are open to all experience levels.”
All auditions are held at Pheasant Run Resort's Preservation Hall A Studio Stage, and are considered first-come, first-served open auditions.
@Neighbor leadin:“Seussical Jr.”: In this Youth Ensemble Winter 2011 musical extravaganza, the FVR Youth Ensemble will bring to life all of your favorite Dr. Seuss characters, including Horton the Elephant, The Cat in the Hat, Gertrude McFuzz, Lazy Mayzie and a little boy with a big imagination Jojo. Open auditions will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 16, or 2:30 to 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 18. The director is Patrick Stinson and music director is Rachel Page. Actors are ages 11 to 19. Prepare and memorize a one-minute monologue in the style of the show which portrays the character you are most interested in playing. Memorize 16 bars of a song from a similar style show. Bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. Do not bring CDs. Singing a cappella is not recommended. Actors will be taught a dance routine. Be prepared to dance with proper shoes and clothing.
“Snow White”: Open auditions for this Kids Winter 2011 Mainstage Musical are from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, or 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 15. The director is Tracy Whiteside. Actors are ages 6 to 10. Memorize a one-minute monologue. Prepare 16 bars of a song from a similar style show. Bring CD with backing tracks.
“The Talent Show”: Open auditions for Teens Winter 2011 Play Comedy are from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 13, or noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 15. The director is Tracy Whiteside. Actors are ages 13 to 19. Prepare and memorize a one-minute monologue in the style of the show which portrays the character you are most interested in playing. You may be asked to read from the script.
The Fox Valley Rep Arts Academy is a nonprofit organization. The academy features some of the Chicago area's most respected teachers, directors, actors and musicians.
