Stevenson wins 2nd straight at Wheeling

In tournament play at Wheeling on Wednesday, Stevenson topped Kenwood 51-43 and advanced to today's consolation championship game by getting past Kenwood in the third round. The Patriots will face Maine West at 5:30 p.m.

Against Kenwood, senior guard Brian Carlson led the way for Stevenson with 11 points and 4 rebounds. Michael Fleming added 9 points, all on 3-pointers while Troy Radtke also scored 9 points for the Patriots.

Streamwood 64, Vernon Hills 60 (2OT): At Wheeling, Vernon Hills fell to Streamwood after two overtimes, despite hitting 12-of-25 three-pointers.

Chris Argianas led the Cougars with 21 points. All of his points came from three-point range. He was 7-of-10 from behind the arc. DaVaris Daniels added 17 points for Vernon Hills and Stephen Curry finished with 10 points. He was 3-of-4 from three-point land.

Grayslake Central 52, Normal University 40: At the State Farm Holiday Classic in Bloomington, Ill., Grayslake Central used a strong fourth quarter to push past Normal University. The Rams out-scored Normal 23-14 in the final period.

Casey Boyle led the Rams with 21 points, including a 9-for-14 performance from the free throw line. Jordan Taylor and CJ Stempeck added 11 and 9 points respectively for Grayslake Central.

Normal West 62, Lake Zurich 52: At the Pekin Holiday Tournament, Lake Zurich suffered a sluggish third quarter and fell to Normal West in the third place consolation game. The Bears, down by just a point at halftime, were out-scored by 7 points in the third quarter.

Mike Boyd led Lake Zurich with 15 points, 6 rebounds and 4 assists while Mirko Grcic added 13 points, 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
