Cubs caravan set to visit Quade's roots at Prospect High

The Chicago Cubs' annual caravan tour will get under way Jan. 12-13 and feature two suburban stops.

New Cubs manager Mike Quade, a former Arlington Heights resident and Prospect High School graduate, will be the keynote speaker at the annual luncheon at Harry Caray's restaurant in Chicago, and will make a stop at his former high school.

Quade was a three-sport athlete at Prospect, where he played shortstop on the baseball team, guard on the basketball team, and quarterback on the football team.

The caravan tour also will make a visit to the USO at the training center in Great Lakes.

The caravan features two tours of players, coaches and front office personnel visiting six cities, five elementary schools and two high schools Jan. 12-13, which leads into the team's 26th annual convention Jan. 14-16 at the Hilton Chicago, 720 S. Michigan Avenue.

Cleveland Elementary in Chicago was selected from more than 75 contest entries from schools to receive a caravan visit as well.

In visiting the schools, the Cubs also will help promote literacy, education and fitness.

CHICAGO -- Cubs manager Mike Quade will headline the fourth annual Cubs Caravan luncheon on Jan. 12.

Quade will be the featured speaker at the luncheon at Harry Caray's Italian Steakhouse, 33 W. Kinzie Street in Chicago, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Players expected to attend with Quade include Andrew Cashner, Koyie Hill, Sean Marshall, James Russell and Randy Wells.

Tickets are $100 each and include a buffet lunch and the opportunity to sit at a table with a Cubs player, coach or member of the front-office staff. Cubs television announcer Len Kasper will emcee the event.
