Last year: 20-7, 9-5, third in DuPage Valley Conference; lost 46-40 to West Aurora in Class 4A Waubonsie Valley regional semifinals.

Scouting report: The Huskies won 20 games last season with tremendous post strength. This year they’ll attempt the same feat with a slightly different focus. The 6-foot-6 LaCosse, recovering from a knee injury suffered in football, is back after averaging 8 points and 5 rebounds. DuPre’ and Mengel also figure to power the front line. Expect a much-improved backcourt led by third-year varsity member Griffin, who averaged 6 points, Buege, a tremendous perimeter shooter, Owens and McGee. A more athletic lineup will allow the Huskies to play an up-tempo style and more aggressive defense. “We need to battle through the early part of our schedule, and hopefully we’ll be in a groove by the end,” Powers said.
