Fox Lake residents receiving new carts for recycling
Waste Management began delivering new recycling carts Monday to Fox Lake's approximately 4,700 households.
The new 64-gallon containers are equipped with wheels and have a yellow lid that features instructions on materials that may be recycled.
“The Village of Fox Lake is excited about the new 64-gallon recycling carts that are being delivered over the next two weeks” Village Administrator Nancy Schuerr said in a statement. “This increased recycling capacity offers our residents a greater opportunity in contributing to a clean, sustainable living environment.”
Recyclable items in Fox Lake include newspapers and magazines, cardboard, junk mail, phone books, frozen food packaging, paper grocery bags and carton board such as cereal and shoe boxes. Waste Management asks that packaging contaminated with food, hard cover books, photographs and tissue paper not be recycled.
Other recyclable materials are plastic containers and plastics with recycle codes one through seven; glass food and beverage containers; and aluminum, tin, steel and bimetal cans. Not recyclable are plastic bags and Styrofoam, windows or mirrors, ceramics and light bulbs.
