Aikman would 'let' his son play football

I understand Mike Imrem's apprehension about letting young men play football. His article in the Oct. 24 Daily Herald makes the case that it is a foolish decision to do so. That is fine. However, he quotes Troy Aikmen saying on the “Mulley and Handley Show” that he wondered if he would “let” his 10-year-old son start playing football. A strong point supporting Mike's argument.

The problem arises when Mr. Imrem misquotes Troy Aikmen. Aikmen said he wondered if he would “encourage” his son to start playing football. There is quite a difference between “let” and “encourage.” I would bet that Troy Aikmen would let his son play football if that is what his son wanted.

Small point maybe, but when using this as a major point to support your argument, Mr. Imrem, you should get your quotes accurate.
