Kids are welcome at Markland's extravaganza
Bring the kids and come to Marklund's 2010 Dinner Auction Shopping Extravaganza from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, Nov. 12, at St. Andrews Golf and Country Club, 2241 Route 59, West Chicago.
The evening kicks off at 6 p.m. with registration, free family photos, and the silent auction. Dancers from Geneva's State Street Dance Studio will perform two numbers from “West Side Story,” “I Feel Pretty” and Prologue II.
Dinner and the live auction begin at 7 p.m., and from 8 to 10 p.m., there will be music, cash bar, wine pull, silent auction and raffles. This fun-filled event can begin and conclude your holiday shopping in one fun night. Entertainment for the children includes cookie decorating and a “no bake” cooking class.
Marklund is a nonprofit network of services providing a full-life experience for infants, children and adults with severe developmental disabilities.
A special family opportunity is new this year. Children can learn the importance of helping others by attending the dinner auction.
If a family raises a minimum of $150 through donations to Marklund from family, friends, and neighbors, tickets to the dinner auction will be free for the immediate family. In addition, a special award will be presented to the children.
A huge array of outstanding items has been procured by the dinner auction committee whose members are Lola Badmus of Algonquin, Kelly Behn of Arlington Heights, Mary Burchi of Hanover Park, Rosemary Campolattara of North Aurora, George and Arlana Fako of La Grange Park, Lisa Kleya of Woodstock, Lynn Macella of Glendale Heights, Heather Manna of Batavia, Liz Musinski of Wheaton, Phyllis Perry of Chicago, Peggy Szarzynski of Winfield and Carol Taylor of Elk Grove Village.
A sampling of items includes: a stay at the Kalahari Resort at the Wisconsin Dells; dinner certificates to Nomi, Capital Grille, Volare, Cheesecake Factory, and more; a stay at a cottage in Door County; a bicycle, organization tools, toys, kitchen items, and more
Tickets are $60 per person, and children are free with a purchased ticket. The public is warmly welcome. Seating is limited, and reservations are required by Friday, Oct. 29. In addition, sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information, call Stevie Armbruster at (630) 593-5473 or e-mail to sarmbruster@marklund.org.
