No injuries in Wheaton house fire
Investigators are trying to determine what caused a Wednesday night fire that left a Wheaton home uninhabitable, authorities said.
Wheaton fire officials said crews were dispatched about 6 p.m. to the structure fire on the 1500 block of Orchard Road.
When firefighters arrived, they found the blaze in the rear bedroom of the ranch-style house. The fire was brought under control within minutes.
A man inside the house escaped safely. Paramedics treated him at the scene for smoke inhalation.
On Thursday, officials said the cause of the fire remained undetermined and a damage estimate wasn't yet unavailable.
The fire is being investigated by the Wheaton Fire Department, Dupage Fire Investigation Task Force and Wheaton Police Department.
Due to fire and smoke damage, the house was deemed unsafe for occupancy by Wheaton's building department.
