Scouting Elk Grove at Hersey
Elk Grove (5-1, 2-0) at Hersey (3-3, 0-2)
When: 7:30 p.m. today at Roland Goins Stadium
Last week: Elk Grove d. Wheeling 35-14; Hersey lost to Buffalo Grove 14-7
Outlook: Each team wants fewer turnovers although Elk Grove has won its last two despite eight miscues while Hersey lost its last two with nine giveaways. "They're so powerful they can overcome some of that," Hersey coach Dragan Teonic said of Elk Grove. "That's been the story of our season (3 turnovers in its wins, 13 in its losses). A lot of that has to do with the opponents we've played some of them have literally taken the ball away from us." Teonic hopes NG Fred Scales (hamstring) can play, lineman Tom Sutrinaitis has been cleared to play and QB Brad Zaucha returns after sitting the last two weeks. Elk Grove coach Brian Doll said LB-WR Joey Bishoff is very questionable with a bone bruise on his knee but expects OL Peter Ioakimidis back from injury. Eddie Solorio and Fernando Lozano stepped up at receiver for QB Nick Meyer last week as the Grenadiers don't want to get caught peeking at next week's visit by Prospect. "Their offense goes through (Zach) Johnson and (Chris) Polinski," Doll said. "I'm very impressed with their running game." Elk Grove won 31-6 last year and leads the series 16-10.
