Autopsy shows Westmont victims died of gunshot wounds

Preliminary autopsy results in the deaths of a 6-year-old girl and two adults in Westmont show that all died from gunshot wounds to the head, the DuPage County coroner's office said Saturday.

The victims Linda Brennan, 50, Julia Moore, 6, and Mark Chapman, 50 were found dead Friday in their apartment on the 500 block of West 61st Street.

The coroner's office stated that Brennan and Moore suffered multiple gunshot wounds. Moore was Brennan's granddaughter, authorities said.

Chapman died from a single gunshot wound, the coroner's office said. All findings are pending toxicology results.

Officers were responding to a request for a well-being check from a relative on Friday when they found the victims at the apartment. Authorities said a gun was found at the scene, and that the preliminary investigation pointed to the incident being a murder-suicide.

Westmont police did not provide any additional information on Saturday.
