Scouting Dundee-Crown at Huntley
Dundee-Crown (0-7, 0-3) at Huntley (3-4, 1-2)
When: today at 7:15 p.m. at Huntley Athletic Field
Last year: Huntley 40, Dundee-Crown 20
Last week: Jacobs 41, Dundee-Crown 0; Crystal Lake South 48, Huntley 14
Outlook: Two teams that have endured more than their fair share of injuries meet in a Fox Valley Conference Valley Division game on Senior Night in Huntley. The Chargers will likely take the field without starting quarterback Tanner Kotlan for the second straight week. The Red Raiders are most banged up at the running back position. Rushers Jordan Hyatt (thumb), Chris Cunningham (ankle) and Christian Cervantes (thigh bruise) are all on the shelf. Wide receiver James Davis will move into the backfield as the main ball carrier this week behind quarterback Tim Lycos (319 yards rushing, 8 TD; 765 yards passing, 6 TD). The Red Raiders still have much to play for. The playoffs are a realistic possibility if they can beat Dundee-Crown and follow up with a win at Jacobs (4-3). “Our goal the whole season is to make the playoffs, so we have to win the next 2 games to do that, Huntley coach Matt Gehrig said. “I think the kids should be excited. It's their last regular-season home game, it's Senior Night and it's a conference game. We want to go out and play well and have a chance to play for the playoffs next week at Jacobs. Even with Huntley's injury issues, the Red Raiders remain a threat to a D-C defense that allows 38.9 points per game. “They get off the ball real well and their quarterback is really good and throws a real nice ball, D-C coach Mike Davis said. “Even though they've got some guys banged up, they were able to move the ball on (Crystal Lake) South. I want our guys to keep playing hard and keep doing the best they can.
