The Trail of History is an entertaining and educational living history re-enactment that features more than 100 interpreters from across the country demonstrating trades and crafts common in the early settler days.

Visitors to the Trail of History will enjoy making corn husk dolls, playing old-fashioned games or dressing up in old-fashioned clothes.

Other activities include a re-enactment of military tactics, Dr. Balthazar's traveling medicine show, jugglers, blacksmiths demonstrations, a variety of musicians, dancers and more. Souvenirs and authentic culinary treats are also available for purchase at the event.

Glacial Park is on Harts Road, seven miles north of McHenry off Route 31. Admittance gates close at 3 p.m. to allow visitors time to make the one-mile walk over hilly terrain to the encampment site. A limited special needs parking area is available. Pets are not allowed. For information, call at (815) 338-6223 or visit MCCDistrict.org.
