QBs Cutler, Rodgers toss bouquets to each other
Four months from now, the Pro Bowl returns to Hawaii.
Provided that neither the Bears nor the Packers reach the Super Bowl - a difficult proposition to comprehend considering how hot these teams are right now, my friend - it seems clear what Jay Cutler and Aaron Rodgers will do during Pro Bowl week.
Judging by their comments about each other Thursday, they'll be sipping some drinks and taking in Hawaiian sunsets together.
Might there be some cuddling involved? You be the judge.
"Jay, being a friend of his and knowing him for a few years now," Rodgers said, "it's nice to watch him have the success he's had the first two games... I'm happy for him."
And you, Jay?
"Good player," Cutler said of Rodgers. "Really good player. Playing at a high caliber... he's definitely one of the top quarterbacks in the league."
Actually, the early-season NFL numbers suggest Rodgers ranks 11th with his solid 94.0 rating. Cutler leads the world at 121.2.
But when it comes to friendship, Rodgers gives Cutler a perfect 158.3 rating.
Cutler aided Rodgers' brother, Jordan, when he chose to play quarterback for Vanderbilt this year after two years of junior college.
"As a big brother, it's much appreciated the way he's made my little brother feel comfortable down there and helped him kind of get the lay of the land down there in Nashville," Rodgers said.
"It only helped to strengthen our friendship. I pull for him 14 weeks out of the season and hope that, maybe, he throws us a couple in those other two weeks."
