Police: 2 'big time dealers' arrested on drug charges
Two people whom police describe as "big time dealers" were arrested last week on drug charges in a restaurant parking lot on Lake-Cook Road in Northbrook.
Delfini Kramarik, 19, and Neringa Eidimtaite, 25, both of 1811 Koehling Road, Northbrook, were both arrested at 9:30 p.m. Thursday and each charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Both appeared in the Skokie courthouse Friday, where Judge Baird Callie set Kramarik's bond at $20,000 and Eidimtaite's at $40,000.
Several police agencies were involved in the investigation, including Northbrook police, Wheeling police, the Cook County Sheriff's Department, and Illinois State Police.
"According to the detective, these were big time dealers out here," Northbrook police press officer Michael Shep said. "I'm sure there are always people above them ... but those who are into (heroin) knew of them."
According to reports, Eidimtaite was found with 35 Ziploc bags containing a substance believed to be heroin and about $1,000 in cash in her purse. Each bag contained "probably a single hit," Shep said. The confiscated drugs were sent to the state police crime lab for positive identification.
Police later searched the house where Kramarik and Eidimtaite live and found more than 200 syringes, heroin overdose medication, and "heroin kits" used to smoke or inject the drug.
While heroin is "everywhere" in the suburbs, Shep said Northbrook takes a zero-tolerance attitude toward drugs.
"No matter what amount, they'll arrest you here. If you have residue, you will be arrested here," Shep said. "You don't have to go to the West Side of the city (to buy heroin) anymore. It's not an inner-city ghetto problem."
