Police looking into attempted abduction in Lisle
Lisle Police are investigating a possible attempted child abduction that occurred Thursday morning in a junior high school parking lot.
Lisle School District 202 Superintendent Patricia Wernet sent an e-mail to families of the district Thursday evening informing them of the police department's investigation.
A 10-year-old Lisle female student was walking through Lisle Junior High School's parking lot at approximately 8:15 Thursday morning when she noticed a black minivan following her.
The driver of the van yelled to her asking, "Hey! Do you want a ride to school?." The girl ignored him while the man continued asking her. The driver then drove his minivan toward her and yelled, "Hey!."
The student then ran east through the parking lot to Schiesher Elementary.
The girl described the van as "beat-up" with a rusty body and running boards with either no rear windows or dark tinted rear windows.
The girl described the driver as a white male, approximately 50 years old with brown/gray hair, a beard and bushy eyebrows.
Anyone who observes the described vehicle is asked to call 911, and anyone with information is asked to contact the Lisle Police Department Investigations Division at (630) 271-4200.
