Air compressor stolen from Wheaton construction site
A towable compressor unit with an estimated value of $11,000 was stolen over the weekend from a construction site in Wheaton, police said.
The compressor unit was at the site of a bridge construction project at Manchester Road and Bridge Street when it was taken sometime between 3:45 p.m. Saturday and 6:30 a.m. Monday. Wheaton police said someone knocked over fencing along Bridge Street, drove up a hill to the site, somehow unlocked the hitched lock and then drove away with the unit.
The compressor unit was manufactured by Atlas Copco, has a model number of XAS185JD7, a serial number of 030757, and is in a yellow box with a gray frame, authorities said.
