Adler Center Students Prepare for Marathon Holiday Recital

Music students at the David Adler Music and Arts Center are preparing for their annual Perform-a-thon, a marathon recital that benefits the Adler Center's Student Scholarship Fund.

Featuring 100 performers, and 9 hours of continuous music, the Adler Center's Perform-a-thon takes place Saturday, December 14 from 11 am to 8 pm.

A Perform-a-thon, like a charity walk or run, relies upon students collecting pledges for each minute of performance. Perform-a-thons are becoming a popular way for music schools to engage all of their students in a single community event.

"During the holidays, we encourage our students to give back to the community," says Program Director, Heather Williamson. "We want them to see that they can use their creative skills and talents to help others gain access to an arts education."

The Adler Center will also host a s'mores bar and bonfire, and a glass ornament-making workshop from 2-4pm. The final hour of the marathon recital features a holiday sing-a-long led by the Adler Center's voice students.
