Cops: Syringe-wielding man robs Bolingbrook pharmacy
A 41-year-old Bolingbrook man armed with a syringe held up a Walgreens pharmacy and made off with more than 400 pills of prescription painkillers before his arrest, police said Friday.
Terry Cornwell of the 200 block of Edgehill Drive is charged with armed robbery and possession of a controlled substance in connection with the incident.
Cornwell walked up to the counter at the Bolingbrook Walgreens on the 600 block of E. Boughton Road Wednesday and told the pharmacist he was holding a syringe full of poison. Cornwell said he would inject the pharmacist if he did not give him narcotic prescription painkillers, according to police.
The pharmacist gave him 330 pills of hydrocodone, 46 pills of morphine and 30 pills of oxycodone before the suspect fled, according to police. No one was injured in the incident.
Bolingbrook police found Cornwell at his home at around noon Wednesday and recovered all the pills. While the syringe has not been found, police said it was filled with water, not poison.
Cornwell was transported to the Will County jail. His bail was set at $150,000.
