Barrington woman charged with stealing designer purse
A Cook County judge set bond at $40,000 Monday for a 61-year-old Barrington woman accused of stealing a Jimmy Choo purse valued at $1,850 from a Nordstrom store.
Schaumburg police charged Emilia Khilevich, of the 0-100 block of Hills and Dales Road, with retail theft following the incident which took place Saturday at the store located in the Woodfield Shopping Center.
Prosecutors said Khilevich took the purse into the ladies room where she removed the sensors and placed it inside her own purse. She was apprehended as she tried to leave the store, said Cook County Assistant State's Attorney Mark Javier.
Khilevich's background includes several convictions for misdemeanor retail theft along with 18 months of felony probation following her conviction for a 2007 retail theft. If convicted, she could face two to five years in prison. She next appears in court on Oct. 7.
