Hanover Twp. partners with state on jobs

Teens and young adults between ages 16 and 21 with a high school diploma, a GED certificate or those who have dropped out of high school will now have another resource in job training and career development. Hanover Township, in partnership with Illinois workNet, will host an orientation meeting 2-4 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 6, to kickoff their job training and skills program.

The meeting, at the township office, 250 S. Rte. 59, Bartlett, will outline the different services to be provided. The goal of the program is to assist youth to a path of independence by providing services such as job placement assistance, occupational skills training, GED support, work experience and other support services.

“This partnership with Hanover Township allows us to better serve the young adults in the area,” said Eddie Perez, Illinois workNet Youth Advocate. Representatives from workNet will be at the Township every other Thursday for individual appointments.

“Finding a job right now is tough for anyone but this program will definitely give youth an advantage,” said Hanover Township Outreach and Prevention Services Manager Michael Cohen.
