Scouting Prospect at Palatine
Prospect (2-1) at Palatine (2-1)
When: 6:30 p.m. today at Chic Anderson Stadium
Last week: Prospect d. Hoffman Estates 52-0; Palatine d. Wheeling 37-23
Outlook: Both teams look to continue their rebound from season-opening losses to teams that are now 3-0. Palatine, led by QB Cody Bobbit, RB-LB Jim Smearman and WR-S Jesse Bobbit, has jumped to 14-0 leads the last two weeks only to end up in tough second-half battles. "I thought at times we did some really good things ... but the next thing you know we give another team life," said Palatine coach Tyler Donnelly of last week's comeback from a 23-21 deficit. "At times we played really well defensively but we have to be more consistent. I was pleased with the way we responded in the second half and there was no panic. But we'll have to play better if we want to have a chance to beat this team." Prospect's Peter Bonahoom and QB Steve Dazzo continued as a dangerous 1-2 running punch last week and Bonahoom and Patrick Inserra also scored defensive TDs. "(Palatine) enjoys playing defense and flying around all over the field," said Prospect coach Brent Pearlman. "They definitely don't lack for (offensive) creativity. That will be a challenge, especially with a three-day week." Palatine won 20-14 in OT in 2007 to take a 14-10-1 series lead.
