Vikings' Harvin on leave with migraines
Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Percy Harvin remains on leave from practice, coping with migraine headaches.
Coach Brad Childress confirmed that Harvin has had "some" migraines recently. Childress said Harvin is resting at his home in the Twin Cities area. "I'm not sure when he'll be with the team. If I knew I would tell you," Childress said.
The second-year standout from Florida, who made the Pro Bowl as a rookie kickoff returner, left the Vikings nine days ago when his grandmother died and has not been back to camp.
Harvin has had migraines for most of his life. Last season the condition kept him out of a December game and out of practice for most of the week before the NFC championship game.
"God willing, he is going to work through this," Childress said.
Super practices: The Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints and the New England Patriots are spending a few days practicing with each other in Foxborough, Mass.
They held two sessions Tuesday and have one planned for Wednesday morning in preparation for the exhibition opener between the teams Thursday night.
Saints coach Sean Payton said he has studied the Patriots organization to see how they won Super Bowls in 2002, 2004 and 2005. He'd like to create a similar domination.
Players said the joint sessions are a break from the monotony of training camp and allow them to play a little more physically.
McFadden frustrated: After spending his first two NFL seasons dealing with injuries to his toes, shoulder and knee, Darren McFadden was looking for a healthy start to the 2010 campaign.
Instead, he will have to sit and watch when the Oakland Raiders take the field for the first time in Thursday night's exhibition game at Dallas because of a tight left hamstring.
"It's very frustrating," McFadden said. "I feel like I've been having a good camp. It happened. It's just something you have to deal with right now."
McFadden hurt his hamstring in practice Saturday morning when he tried to accelerate after slowing down. He immediately felt tightness so he pulled up to make sure the injury didn't get any worse.
Browns' Jackson injured: D'Qwell Jackson's comeback may have suffered a setback.
Cleveland's starting inside linebacker, and one of the Browns' top players, left the practice field with a potentially serious injury.
Jackson, who missed the final 10 games last season with a torn pectoral muscle, walked dejectedly off the field during the evening session. As he approached the training facility, he favored his right side as he tried to open a door to the locker room.
Jackson did not speak to reporters, and the Browns had no immediate word on his condition.
Browns starting cornerback Eric Wright was kept out of practice after injuring his right leg during Cleveland's morning workout.
Wright got hurt during 7-on-7 drills about halfway through the first of the Browns' two practices Tuesday. He was attended to on the sideline by trainers, who put an ice wrap on Wright's leg. He limped to the team's training facility for further treatment.
Wright's injury appeared to be to his hamstring. It's not yet known if it will keep him out of Saturday's exhibition opener against Green Bay.
Packers' Bell out: The Green Bay Packers have placed Josh Bell on injured reserve, compounding their depth problems at cornerback. The team did not give a reason for the move, but Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Monday that Bell had a foot sprain.
