Bears cut former NU wideout Markshausen
The Bears released former Northwestern wide receiver Zeke Markshausen Tuesday, leaving their roster at 78, three over the limit they must reach by noon Tuesday.
Markshausen was brought in during the Bears' rookie mini-camp for a workout after spending four seasons at Northwestern (2006-10), joining the Wildcats as a walk-on.
The 5-11, 185-pound receiver entered his senior season at Northwestern with 1 collegiate catch for 6 yards before compiling 91 receptions for 858 yards and 3 touchdowns in 2009. His 91 receptions last year were second-most and seventh-most in school and Big Ten single-season history, respectively.
