Six passengers injured during emergency exit from jet at O'Hare
Six passengers suffered minor injuries Saturday morning at O'Hare International Airport after they had to evacuate a United flight from New York via the emergency chute.
Forty of the 149 people on board Flight 611 from New York's LaGuardia Airport deplaned down the inflatable slide, said United Airlines spokesman Charlie Hobart.
The Airbus A320, which landed at 10:29 a.m., was at gate B14 and the majority of passengers had walked off the plane as usual when an indicator went off in the cockpit that something was amiss in the cargo hold, Hobart said.
The Chicago Fire Department responded, though Chief Joe Roccasalva said say no fire was discovered and the injured passengers refused treatment at the scene.
United Airlines officials are looking into the cause of the cargo hold sensor activation.
