Time to solve own problems, re Hubble

I have to agree with my neighbor, Dan Pearson, in that it would be nice to have a park at the former Hubble School site. But that's pretty much what we have there now, and which we cannot afford to have off the tax rolls. If we can't afford to keep it as is, how in the world can we afford to add "deep, large retention ponds."

There's no point in developing the property if it won't both improve Wheaton and provide revenue. To do that, we need a successful retailer such as Costco. We would have complete control over design; it need not be a cheap looking "big box."

We could require almost anything, including flood abatement measures that would help a larger part of Wheaton. It's time for us to grow up and solve our own problems instead of begging government to "do something" and get somebody else to pay for it.
