10 arrested in Mount Prospect parking lot brawl

Mount Prospect police arrested 10 people Thursday evening following a brawl in a parking lot.

Officer Greg Sill said all 10 were charged with disorderly conduct following the fight in the 1700 block of West Victoria Drive, around 9:30 p.m.

He said the people involved were a mix of adults and juveniles.

Arriving officers saw at least a dozen people fighting in the parking lot and tried to break it up, but resorted to pepper spray when talking didn't help.

Despite that, it took several more minutes and nearly a dozen police officers to stop the fight and restore order, a news release stated.

Sill said three people were taken to area hospitals, a result of fight injuries, not the pepper spray.

The six adults were charged with one count each of disorderly conduct (fighting in public) under the Village's local ordinance. They are: Mariela Cruz, 43, 1000 block of E. Algonquin Road, Arlington Heights; Salvador Nava, 27, 1900 block of W. Algonquin Road, Mount Prospect; Jorge Castillo, 36, 1700 block of Victoria Drive, Mount Prospect; Enrique Banos, 36, 1000 block of E. Algonquin Road, Arlington Heights; Laura Castillo, 37, 1700 block of Forest Cove Drive, Mount Prospect; and Karina Banos, 34, 1800 block of Phillip Drive, Mount Prospect.

Four juveniles, ages 13, 16 and 17, were also arrested and each charged with one count of disorderly conduct (fighting in public) under the village's local ordinance. Three live in Mount Prospect and one in Arlington Heights.

All are scheduled to appear in the Third District Court of Cook County in Rolling Meadows at 1:30 p.m. Sept. 17, Room 209.
