Your news: Elk Grove Leo Club gives back, helps animals

Between Monday, Aug. 9 and Saturday, Aug. 14, the Elk Grove Leo Club held a collection for Swaziland, a poverty ridden kingdom in Africa. The club collected 75 bags filled with items such as cloths, towels, shoes, school supplies and toiletries.

The Elk Grove Lions helped the Leos get the items to the Grant Township Lions Club, who worked with the Luke Commission to bring the desperately needed items to Swaziland.

Currently the Elk Grove Leo Club is selling 2011 Entertainment Books and from Friday, Oct. 1-Sunday, Oct. 31, the Leo Club is holding a Pet Food and Supply Drive to benefit the Almost Home Foundation animal rescue. Collection sights include Elk Grove Library, 1001 Wellington Ave.; Elk Grove High School, 500 W. Elk Grove Blvd.; Elk Grove Village Hall, 901 Wellington Ave.; Elk Grove Gymnastics, 775 Bonnie Lane; Arlington Heights Animal Hospital, 412 W. Algonquin Road; and The Academy of Dog and Cat Grooming Arts, 1742 W. Algonquin Road.

While the Elk Grove Leo Club and Almost Home are grateful for all donations, most needed at this time is cat food and supplies.

For questions about the Leo Club, the pet food drive or to purchase an Entertainment Book, contact Leo Club president Rachel Mia Kaim at (847) 748-0034 or e-mail 4rachelk@comcast.net.
