Red Wings re-sign F Patrick Eaves to 1-year deal

DETROIT -- The Detroit Red Wings have re-signed forward Patrick Eaves.

Detroit signed Eaves to a one-year contract Wednesday.

He had 12 goals and 22 assists in 65 games for the Red Wings last season, his first with the franchise.

Eaves has scored 57 times and has 112 points in his career with Detroit, Carolina and Ottawa since the Senators drafted him 29th overall in 2003. His father Mike Eaves is Wisconsin's head hockey coach and a former NHL player.

The Red Wings are hoping to sign free agent Mike Modano. The Michigan native has 557 career goals and 1,359 points with the Minnesota North Stars and Dallas Stars.
