Get facts straight to tout evolution
Christopher Burrell lashes out with merciless invective against creationist Lindsay Stevens in the July 13 Fencepost.
Burrell lambastes Stevens for misunderstanding what true science is. Burrell says that Stevens' belief in a young earth is like believing that New York is 10 yards from San Francisco. To drive the spike into Stevens he triumphantly writes " . . . carbon dating has definitively put the age at around 4.5 billion years old."
It appears that Mr. Burrell is the one who needs to be schooled in science. A quick check in any scientific reference work will teach Burrell his huge scientific error, since carbon dating can date nothing accurately beyond 50,000 years. That's a lot farther from 4.5 billion than San Fran is from the Big Apple.
But it's OK. I can forgive you when you are wrong. I would much rather be a forgiving creationist than a proud, merciless evolutionist. There is more to life than simply having your facts straight.
