Children found in Lake in the Hills room with feces
A Lake in the Hills couple was charged with child endangerment after police found four children in a room covered with human feces.
Police were called to the home on the 500 block of Blackhawk Drive about 9 p.m. Tuesday for a report of a domestic dispute. Upon investigation, police discovered the children - 10 months to 5 years old - in a bedroom with human waste on the walls, floor and bed, Officer Sean Feely said.
"The wife called on the husband for just a verbal argument," Feely said. "She didn't like the tone her husband was using."
There were no other signs of neglect, Feely said.
The parents, Tabatha Berry, 23, and Shawn Berry, 33, were charged with one count of misdemeanor child endangerment for each child, Feely said. The couple was released on 10 percent of a $1,000 bond each and are due to appear in McHenry County Court at 1:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 19.
The children were placed in the care of another family member.
