Cary man gets probation for smashing window
A 20-year-old Cary man was sentenced Monday to 30 days in the McHenry County jail and two years probation after pleading guilty to accusations he smashed a car window on June 25, 2009, in what authorities said was a drug deal gone bad. Erick Blanco, of the 700 block of Blazing Star Trail, admitted to a charge of criminal damage to property stemming from the incident in which he also was charged initially with attempted aggravated robbery.
That charge was dropped as part of a plea bargain.
Blanco, under the deal, also must pay $410 restitution and perform 50 hours community service.
