Elginbull; Someone stole a wireless phone from an unlocked 2010 Ford Focus in the 900 block of Deborah Avenue between 8 p.m. Thursday and 4 a.m. Friday, reports said.bull; Someone took a PlayStation3 and three games from an unlocked residence in the 300 block of North Jackson Street between 3:30 and 5:45 p.m. Thursday, reports said.bull; Margarita O. Garcia, 19, of the 500 block of Enterprise Street, Elgin, was arrested and charged with retail theft at 5:12 p.m. Thursday at Burlington Coat Factory, 250 S. Randall Road, reports said. She is accused of removing security tags from $40 worth of clothing and is due in court Oct. 8, reports said.Crystal LakePolice arrested a 45-year-old Algonquin man early Friday on allegations he assaulted a Metra train conductor during a dispute over a possibly missed stop. Donald J. Svec, of the 1300 block of Prairie Drive, was charged with aggravated battery, a Class 3 felony, in connection with the incident at 12:02 a.m. aboard the train as it approached the downtown Crystal Lake station. Police said Svec became angry and attacked the conductor when the train did not stop in Fox River Grove as he expected. Svec was released on $750 bond with an Aug. 23 court date.Kane Countybull; Andrew N. Rylko, 20, of the 41W700 block of Lenz Road, Burlington, has been ticketed in connection with a July 31 crash on Lenz Road, west of Crawford Road, near Burlington. Police said Rylko crashed a 1990 Oldsmobile Cutlass into a tree within minutes of borrowing the car from a friend. The owner told police Rylko said he crashed when a cigarette ash struck him in the eye, causing him to lose control, according to a police report. Police said he was treated at Delnor Hospital in Geneva for a concussion after smashing his head through the driver's side window. On Aug. 5, Rylko was issued citations by mail for improper lane use, no insurance, driving without a valid license, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and failure to report an accident, according to a police report. He is scheduled to appear in court Sept. 1. bull; Maria Solis, 36, of the 42W600 block of Plank Road, Hampshire, was cited Wednesday for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident and driving without a valid license after an injury crash about 12:30 p.m. at Plank and Switzer roads near Elgin, police said. She posted $100 bond and was released. bull; Several lawn tools of unspecified value were reported stolen Aug. 6 from a barn on the 17N400 block of Big Timber Road, near Hampshire, police said. bull; Four mailboxes were reported damaged by a heavy object Tuesday in the area of the 35W300 block of Park Avenue, near St. Charles, police said.
