Crystal Lake police seek man who approached child
Crystal Lake police are looking for man who approached a 13-year-old girl as she walked home from school Thursday afternoon.
Police said the man attempted to give the girl a piece of paper or an envelope in the area of Fernleaf and Monarch drives at 2:40 p.m.
The girl told police she was unable to understand the man because he spoke in a foreign language.
Police said the girl ran to a neighbor's house, where she watched the man walk up her driveway, pause and then leave the area in a light blue, later model Dodge Caravan.
The 45- to 50-year-old man was described as either Hispanic or Middle Eastern with black hair and a dark complexion, police said. He was clean shaved and was wearing a light blue short-sleeve button-down shirt with black jeans.
Anyone with information on the man's identity is asked to call Crystal Lake police at (815) 356-3620.
