McHenry man accused of choking ex-girlfriend

A McHenry man was jailed Tuesday for choking and threatening an ex-girlfriend, police officials said.

Richard Moore, 27, of the 200 block of Broadway Street, remains in McHenry County Jail after being charged with aggravated domestic battery, harassment of a witness, communicating with a witness, domestic battery, criminal trespass to residence, two counts of violating an order of protection, and violating bail bond.

According to a news release, McHenry County Sheriff's police were called to Moore's ex-girlfriend's residence after she woke up Friday to Moore choking her, the release said. Moore also struck her in the head before he left her home, it said.

Multiple arrest warrants were issued for Moore before he was discovered in Vernon Hills. Police discovered where he was after he called woman and made threats about the police search, police said.
