Charges in Cary vehicle attack upgraded to attempted murder

Cary police have upgraded an aggravated battery charge against a 23-year-old man accused of driving his vehicle into another man at least twice Saturday to attempted murder.

Michael Rohn of the 0-99 block of Montana Court in Cary was arrested Thursday afternoon after the new charge was brought against him, according to the Cary Police Department.

Police responded to a possible fight in progress behind a Walgreens at 500 Northwest Hwy. in Cary, at 4:16 a.m. Saturday and found a lone 20-year-old victim conscious but unable to move.

Jeremy Sojka, also of Cary, was stabilized by responding paramedics and taken to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville, where he remains, according to police.

Rohn fled in his vehicle before police arrived, a but officers were able to locate the vehicle involved and determine he was the suspect, according to police.

Rohn was taken to the McHenry County jail Thursday afternoon and is being held on $175,000 bond.
