Fullback departs Rush for Northern Michigan job

Chicago Rush fullback Robert Boss has decided to leave the team to accept a position as offensive line coach at his alma mater, Northern Michigan University, the Rush announced Tuesday.

"The loss of Robert Boss leaves a huge hole on our team," said Rush head coach Mike Hohensee. "He was not only a great player for us, but he was a great leader and ambassador for the Rush and the Arena Football League. I believe his passion for the game and charismatic personality will transcend him into an outstanding coach."

Boss said he leaves the Rush with a lot of great memories.

"It was a pleasure to have the chance to play for such a great organization and in front of the fans at Allstate Arena," Boss said.

"My lifelong dream always has been to coach, and the opportunity to return to my alma mater to begin my coaching career is one that I cannot pass up."

Boss played in all 13 games for the Rush this season, moving to fullback after playing two seasons on the offensive line. In addition to providing excellent blocking for quarterback Russ Michna, he proved to be quite a threat on offense, rushing for 119 yards and 10 touchdowns, and catching 15 passes for 157 yards and 5 TDs.

The Rush returns home this weekend to begin a two-game homestand by hosting the Arizona Rattlers Saturday night at Allstate Arena. For tickets, call Ticketmaster at (800) 745-3000 or visit the Ticketmaster website at www.ticketmaster.com.
