Carlos Zambrano's odds took turn for worse
Mike Imrem said that Carlos Zambrano's stigma of being looked at as mentally ill was a reason to delay getting him help. No such stigma exists until the treatment fails, as it usually does. Then the "damaged goods" label gets attached.
The same stigma was attached to AIDS carriers, brought out so well in the movie, "Philadelphia". The stigma of having AIDS had more to do with no cure for the disease.
The same applies for Zambrano. The odds of him ever returning as a dominant athlete just took a turn for the worse. "Prozac-ing" a starting pitcher is not a cure, and we all know it. Thus the label.
