Mount Prospect to host block party the whole family can enjoy
On Saturday, July 24, the Village of Mount Prospect and the Mount Prospect Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the 11th annual Midsummer Downtown Block Party.
The party will be held from 4 to 10:30 p.m. at Emerson Street and Busse Avenue in downtown Mount Prospect. Admission is free.
There are activities for the entire family. Finals of Mount Prospect Idol competition will kick off at 5:30 p.m. The final three contestants will perform.
Scheduled entertainment includes The Breakfast Club at 7 p.m. and Heartache Tonight at 9 p.m.
The Breakfast Club is a high energy rock/dance '80s tribute band.
And with their harmonies and musicianship, the six members of Heartache Tonight capture the excitement and style of The Eagles.
Free kids' activities include a moonwalk, climbing wall, pony rides, mini Ferris wheel and face painting. Kids' activities will take place from 4 to 9 p.m.
The Radio Disney AM 1300 Road Crew will perform from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. This is an interactive family event filled with games, music and prizes.
Parking for the block party is available in the east commuter lot on Northwest Highway and in village hall parking deck off Emerson Street.
