Woman killed by train in Hanover Park
A 38-year-old Elgin woman who was struck and killed by a Metra train Sunday night in Hanover Park was ruled an accident Monday by the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, even though Elgin police say the woman was suicidal.
Police said the woman had sent "troubling" texts to family members earlier in the day and they had been frantically looking for her since 1 p.m. The woman was struck by a train just before 8:30 p.m. and pronounced dead soon after at St. Alexius Medical Center.
