Homeowner hurt in Wood Dale fire

One person was injured during a Tuesday night fire at a house on the 17W000 block of Washington Street in Wood Dale.

Crews were called about 9 p.m. after the fire apparently started in the home's basement, Assistant Fire Chief Chris Roberts said.

He said it took firefighters about an hour to bring the blaze under control. A damage estimate was not available.

The homeowner was taken to Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood to be treated for burns. His condition was unknown Wednesday morning, Roberts said.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the DuPage County Fire Investigation Task Force.

Firefighters from Bensenville, Itasca, Elk Grove Village, Bloomingdale, Elmhurst, Carol Stream and Addison were called to the scene to assist.
