Pensions are simply out of control

This is in response to Don Young's math lesson from June 5. I really do not think the majority of Fence Post readers will fall for your continued attempt to hide the truth and abuse.

We are not concerned with the pension of a 90-year-old retiree from downstate Illinois. We are concerned with the currently and future compensation of teachers and administrators in the Western suburbs. Please try and focus on this area alone.

Unfortunately our property taxes are based on local school districts not on the state averages. I would suggest you and others reading this post go to the web and get the facts on your own rather than listen to Al Palash or Don Young. Then make your own informed judgment.

The situation is simply out of control. Committed salaries and pensions cannot be afforded. Class sizes will go up and programs will be cut. And who is to blame? Who voted for the union-backed school board members? Who politically supports the teachers union? And remember, "the students will suffer" if you don't pass all those referendums.
