Cops plan motorcycle runSouth Elgin police are organizing their second annual "Bikers N Badges" run to raise money for the Special Olympics. The 90-mile ride will begin at 8:30 a.m. June 27 at Randall's Pancake House, 305 S. Randall Road, South Elgin, and wind up at Mary's Corner Tap, 304 Mill Street, South Elgin. The $45 fee includes a passenger, lunch and raffle participation. The first 75 people to register get a free T-shirt. Registration will go from $66 to $68, locks will rise from $4 to $5, lunch will go from $2.25 to $2.50 and summer school tuition will rise from $150 to $180. The school board voted unanimously to increase the fees.Museums offer adventureNearly 60 museums, nature centers and historical sites are offering kids a chance to win prizes by visiting them in the 19th annual Passport to Adventure Program sponsored by the Kane DuPage Regional Museum Association. Children ages 4 to 12 can pick up a passport at any participating organization and get a stamp for each site they visit. Kids who visit five sites by Labor Day receive a Certificate of Achievement. Those who visit seven sites also will receive a prize, and may be eligible for an additional incentive by returning their passport book to the location where they received it.
