Streamwood woman dies after being struck by train near Bartlett
A 41-year-old Streamwood woman died after being struck Monday morning by a Chicago-bound Metra train between the Bartlett and Hanover Park stations, officials said.
The unidentified woman was hit by the train about 10:40 a.m., causing a one-hour delay on Metra's Milwaukee West line, agency spokesman Michael Gillis said.
"It will take us a while to get fully back on track, but we're moving again," Gillis said late Monday morning.
The injured woman was taken from the scene to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates. Metra officials were notified that she later died there before a planned move to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's Office, which plans to conduct an autopsy Tuesday, is withholding identification pending notification of family.
The incident remains under investigation by Metra.
