Streamwood man charged with shooting at car

An 18-year-old Streamwood man has been charged in connection to shooting late Friday in Hanover Park.

Hanover Park police said Cortez Wamble was a passenger in a car around 11:12 p.m. Friday when he shot at a male and female in another vehicle on the 8100 block of Kingsbury Drive.

The bullet struck the victims' vehicle and no one was injured, police said.

Deputy Police Chief Tom Cortese said Wamble, of the 200 block of Shagbark Lane in Streamwood, knew his intended targets. The man and woman were able to identify Wamble, leading police to arrest him on Monday.

Police are still searching for car's driver, whose identify isn't known because the subject wasn't seen by the victims and Wamble denied involvement, Cortese said.

Wamble, who was charged with aggravated discharge of a firearm, appeared Tuesday at a bond hearing in Rolling Meadows. Cook County Judge Kay Hanlon set bond at $55,000, of which he must post 10 percent to be released. His next court date is May 20.

Police Chief David Webb said he was pleased with the quick resolution to a potentially dangerous incident and the department's Investigative Division.
