Dist. 102 considers maternity leave for administrators
Teachers in Aptakisic-Tripp School District 102 are guaranteed paid maternity leave in their contracts, and now administrators in the district could soon have the same pledge.
Superintendent Theresa Dunkin said many school districts in the area don't have anything in writing about maternity leave for administrators. But with several younger administrators, District 102 is trying to be proactive, Dunkin said. In addition to time off required under the Family Medical Leave Act, the district would give administrators an additional six weeks of paid time off.
School board members didn't approve a formal policy on maternity leave this week, but said language allowing it could be included in individual employee contracts.
