Cuneo Gardens art festThe annual Cuneo Gardens Art Fest is 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday in the sculpture garden at the Cuneo Museum Gardens, 1350 Milwaukee Ave., Vernon Hills. The event features artists from across the United States selling painting, photography, ceramics, jewelry, sculpture, fiber and other media. Featured entertainment Saturday is Patchouli. Donna Herula and the Debe Welch band play on Sunday. Admission to the grounds and festival is free. A parking donation of $5 is requested to help museum restoration. The group traps, neuters and returns cats to their colony, and need clerical help, fundraising energy and hands-on cat care. Volunteers help reduce shelter intake and euthanasia of cats in Lake County. The goal is to end feline homelessness through sterilization and vaccination of free roaming cats. The event is 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day at 29560 N. Hawthorne Lane, Libertyville. Multiple families have donated items for this sale. All proceeds will go to the squad.New fire district presidentBarrington Countryside Fire Protection District trustees have elected Marvin Hill to serve as their 2010-11 board president. He succeeds Paul M. Heinze, who remains on the board. Hill was appointed to the board in 2003 and played a key role in negotiating the 2005 agreement for fire services between the district and village of Barrington. He also oversaw development of the district's website. A district resident since 1999, Hill is the former owner of a Northwest suburban printing company and is past president of the Wheeling Chamber of Commerce.
