Fox Lake cooking fire causes $30K in damage

An accidental cooking fire caused approximately $30,000 in damage to a Fox Lake condo unit on Friday.

The Fox Lake Fire Department responded around 7:45 p.m. to a call from a building on the 40 block of Nassau Colony, just off State Park Road, and discovered smoke coming from the bottom condo unit, officials said.

Battalion Chief Larry Van Hoorelbeke said firefighters extinguished flames coming from a stove within 10 minutes. The residents were already out of the building when rescue workers arrived, he added, and no one was injured.
